ORANGE VIRGINIA - April 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - December 2004
The Capitol Holiday Tree visits Orange County Virginia at Montpelier, the home of James and Dolley Madison. The tree, the first from Virginia, came from the Washington National Forest.

Virginia artist Linda Boudreaux Montgomery was selected to paint the official Orange County ornament and presented it to the tree committe at the ceremony on November 26, 2004 at Montpelier. The theme of the 2004 tree was Virginia - Birthplace of Presidents , and the hand painted ornament featured Montpelier and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The oranament hung on the tree in Washington until the end of the holiday season.

 

WASHINGTON, DC - May 2003
Peter Brink, Viice President of programs at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Lisa Burcham, Associate Director and Historic Preservation Officer for Washington, DC, and Barbara Franco, President of the Historical Society of Washington launched National Preservation Week at the National Building Museum with the opening of an exhibit showcasing the winners of a nationwide Preservation Week Poster Contest.

Chosen from more than 90 creative entries from all parts of the United States, Virginia artist Linda Boudreaux Montgomery has been awarded Honorable Mention in the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Cities, Suburbs & Countryside Official Poster Contest held during National Historic Preservation Week May 5-12, 2003.

AUSTIN, TX - December 2000
Austin artist Linda Boudreaux Montgomery was selected by First Lady Laura Bush to illustrate her family's Christmas card for the year 2000. The card depicts the staircase in the main entrance hall of the Governor's Mansion in Austin.
